About

Information on the site, the reviews, the reviewers, and me.
About the Site
This site was born when I realized there were countless Canadian authors out there that I either didn't know about or didn't know were Canadian. I was making lists for myself and it made sense to me that I should share those lists with the world.
I know there are many, many missing authors. I also know that, since I work on this site by myself, I will never be able to list all of them. But I think that every little bit helps and some promotion is better than none.
If there is a particular author that you would like to see listed, or if you are an author yourself, I've provided an author information form to make it easy. The more information you can give me, the faster the listing can be made.
Also, each author page includes a simple version for printing purposes, with no graphics, ads, or links.
About the Reviews
While most of the reviews on the site are written in a traditional style, I have recently begun using interview-style reviews. This was done partly to accommodate one of my children who doesn't have much free time and partly because I think it makes for an interesting read.
Also, most reviews include a short excerpt from the book to give readers a sense of the author's style.
If you've reviewed a book by a Canadian author on your blog or website, please do let me know. I would be happy to link to it.
About the Reviewers
LMB - That's me. I review a little bit of everything.
PB - My husband. He reviews mostly science fiction and fantasy.
AB - My daughter and oldest child. She reviews teen and adult fiction.
KB - My daughter and middle child. She reviews young adult/teen books and has been reviewing for me the longest.
JB - My son and youngest child. He reviews young adult books.
Age is indicated for any reviewer under eighteen.
About Me
A few years ago, I set myself a challenge to read only books by Canadian authors for one year. For the most part I succeeded and at the end of that time I realized that I not only liked Canadian authors, I preferred them. It was wonderful to read about places I recognized and people I understood. Now, the vast majority of what I read is Canadian.
Sometimes in my reviews, I say that I didn't care about one or more characters. That does not mean that I expected to like them. It simply means that, love them or hate them, they have to matter to me. If they don't, it's unlikely that I will enjoy the book.
I'm on Facebook and I maintain Twitter and Facebook accounts for the site.
And when I'm not busy with this site, I also have a site featuring recipes from old (sometimes very old) cookbooks: Vintage Recipes.
About the Event Calendar
At this point, I only plan to update the calendar once a month from my current sources. I will add events from new sources as they become available to me. If you think I've missed your site or your store, please tell me. I'm more than happy to sign up for your newsletter or mailing list, if necessary.
About Books by French-Canadian Authors
Because this is an English website, I've linked to English translations of the books where possible. Also, all reviews (at this point anyway) will be of the English version.
