Oksanna Crawley was born in 1955 in Val d'Or, Quebec and grew up in Toronto. She earned a B.A. and B.Ed. from the University of Toronto and worked as a broadcast journalist before becoming an elementary school teacher. Crawley lives in Brampton, Ontario.
