Barb Howard was born in 1962 in Calgary, Alberta. She received a B.A. in English from the University of British Columbia and an LLB from Dalhousie University, and worked as a lawyer before receiving an M.A. in creative writing from the University of Calgary. Howard lives in Bragg Creek, Alberta.
