Joy Kogawa

Joy Kogawa was born in 1935 in Vancouver, British Columbia. During World War II, her family was relocated to Slocan, British Columbia and later to Coaldale, Alberta, along with other Japanese Canadians. She attended the University of Alberta and the University of Toronto and has worked with the National Association of Japanese Canadians. Kogawa is a Member of the Order of Canada and lives in Toronto, Ontario.
