Wendel Messer was born in St. John's, Newfoundland. After earning a B.A. at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a B.Ed. (history, driver education, and ESL) at the University of Toronto, he taught English as a Second Language and driver education. Messer lives near Gravenhurst, Ontario.
