Review of Bloodman

FBI consultant Jake Cole returns home after his estranged father is hospitalized for setting himself on fire. When a mother and child are found murdered just up the road, Jake is asked to help the small-town cops with the investigation.

This book is disturbing from beginning to end. I read it a while ago and I still can't get the story out of my head. The protaganist is tremendously complex, the crimes (and some other things) are truly horrifying, and the looming hurricane ensures the tension never lets up. This book is not for the squeamish and it is not for those who have a problem reading about children being harmed. But if you like your thrillers very dark and twisted, I highly recommend Bloodman. It's very good. Just remember that it might not be easy to shake off when you're done reading.
