Guy Gavriel Kay
Guy Gavriel Kay was born on 7 November 1954 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He earned a B.A. in philosophy at the University of Manitoba in 1975, then moved to England to assist J.R.R. Tolkien's son, Christopher, in editing his father's unpublished book, The Silmarillion. Kay returned to Canada to study law at the University of Toronto, receiving his LL.B. in 1978, and during the 1980s he worked at CBC Radio as a writer and producer for the series, The Scales of Justice. Kay lives in Toronto.
