Donna Morrissey

Donna Morrissey was born in 1956 and grew up in The Beaches, Newfoundland. She left the area in the early 1970s and worked at various jobs across the country before returning to the island in the mid-1980s. In 1987, she was told she had tetanus and given six months to live. The misdiagnosis was corrected the following day but the resulting anxiety compelled her to change her life. She enrolled in Memorial University, earning a degree in social work, and then attended St. Francis Xavier University where she earned a diploma in adult education. In addition to her novels, Morrissey has written two award-winning screenplays. She lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
