Lesley Choyce was born on 21 March 1951 in rural New Jersey. He earned a B.A. from Rutgers University in 1972, an M.A. in American literature from Montclair State College in 1974, and an M.A. in English literature from City University of New York in 1983. Choyce moved to Nova Scotia in 1979 and started Pottersfield Press. He teaches part-time at Dalhousie University and hosts a nationally syndicated TV talk show in Halifax. Choyce lives in Lawrencetown Beach.
