Frances Itani
Frances Itani was born in 1942 in Belleville, Ontario and moved to Quebec when she was four. She received a dual B.A. in English and psychology from the University of Alberta and an M.A. in English literature from the University of New Brunswick. Itani worked as a nurse for eight years, until 1965 when she signed up for a writing class taught by W.O. Mitchell. She divides her time between Ottawa and Geneva where her husband, a Red Cross official, is based.

I just finished reading Remembering the Bones and would love to tell Frances Itani that on the last page of that novel she answered, at least for me, the question of what life is: It is a privilege.
