Edeet Ravel was born on a kibbutz in Israel to Canadian parents. At age 7, her family moved to Montreal and at age 18, she moved back to Jerusalem and earned a B.A. and M.A. in English literature from the Hebrew University. Returning to Canada, Ravel earned an M.A. in 1986 and a Ph.D. in 1992 in Jewish studies from McGill University and an M.A. in creative writing from Concordia University. After teaching for two decades, Ravel now lives in Guelph, Ontario. For more information, visit her official site.
